Democrats are an interesting bunch. They love to stick the people with more and more taxes while getting out of taxes themselves or helping their buddies.
Along with Congressman Charlie Rangel (D-NY) and nutcase Al Franken (D-U of Minn. Hospital Mental Ward), Sec of Treasury-select Tim Geithner will be another guy in Washington who has evaded taxes.
Sure, a lot of people here in this country have back taxes. Even I had to pay back taxes for 2006 as a payment plan because I couldn’t afford to pay it all off at once. What bothers me is that Mr. Geithner was notified in 2006 by the IRS and did not pay back the taxes or anything until earlier this year.
This isn’t a defense of Hank Paulson though. Paulson is a liberal eco-nut who thinks businesses should fall victim to the global warming fraud. The same scheme would cost companies billions. His dealings with the Chinese government while at Goldman Sachs posed a threat to our national security and were brought up during his Senate confirmation hearings. The man is of questionable character and possibly should have never been in charge of the Treasury in the first place.
While Geithner doesn’t seem that bad, he can’t even work out a deal to pay back his taxes with the IRS. Should we trust him as well with the TARP funds? Even better is that he failed to check up on the immigration status of his maid.
Where was the Office of the Transition Team for the President-Elect of the United States for Glorious Power Transfer to the One in all of this? Are they not doing a good job vetting Obama’s picks? First Richardson may be in some pay-to-play dealings and the guy who will be in charge of the government’s money can’t even pay back his taxes.
Perhaps someone feels that government mismanagement of money isn’t efficient enough and someone like Geithner will change that. As President of the New York Federal Reserve, part of his job is to oversee financial operations in New York, including Wall Street. Things haven’t been too good on Wall Street for the past several months and now we’re going to put this guy in charge of the US Treasury. Now government mismanagement of money will be much more efficient than it was before.
